Gatherings
(N.B. No longer available)
Click here for a sample material from the Spring 2006 edition.
Gatherings provides information and ideas relevant to assemblies and collective worship as well as gathering together material relating to a range of educational issues including creativity, values, spiritual development and emotional literacy.
At its core is a week-by-week breakdown of the school term listing:
- notable dates, anniversaries and festivals (secular and religious);
- suggestions for assembly/collective worship themes; and
- a 'saying of the week' (probably linked to one of the themes).
The second part of the publication consists of a variety of material such as:
- accounts of good practice;
- reviews of recent publications (e.g. the Autumn Term 2002 edition contains a review of Tony Buzan's book The Power of Spiritual Intelligence);
- stories (sometimes linked to festivals which occur during the term);
- articles (e.g. the Autumn 2004 edition carried an account of a recent visit to Japan); and
- large-print sayings which can be photocopied for display.
Many of the articles and reviews published in Gatherings are later placed in our Articles and Reviews sections of the website.
N.B. Gatherings is no longer available.
