Year 6 Supported Assignment

RE is about exploring our experiences and learning how religions make sense of the world. The Supported Assignment will help you think about what you have learned in RE during your time at primary school. It is an opportunity to explore something that really fascinates you.

You need to choose a big question that interests you. The question has to be very powerful and one that you really want to answer. Examples of ‘big questions’ are

· How has religion been important in my life?

· What different religious and other groups do people in the class/year/school come from?

· What good and bad values are there in TV programmes like Eastenders?

· Who do people admire and why?

· What clues are there about religion around where I live?

You will need to decide whether you are going to work by yourself, with one other person or as part of a group.

You will have to decide what methods of research you will use. You could

· visit a place of worship

· interview people

· use the internet

· look at reference books

You will also have to decide how to present your findings. You could

· produce a booklet or folder

· make a display

· prepare a Powerpoint presentation

· create something for the school website

· present a piece of drama or give a talk

· make a video

You will evaluate your assignment by answering questions like

· What was my big question?

· How well did I answer the question?

· What was I proud of in the assignment?

· What could I have improved?

· How well did I work with others?

· What was the most important thing I found out?

· If I did the assignment again, what changes would I make?
